The former Liverpool manager states coming back to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback is an option. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-season tenure which brought a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait for three decades, currently occupies roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the league title in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would embrace the notion of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he told the podcast host: “I said I won't manage a different club within the country. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, which suggests I might decide later on, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I can just see what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about the specific conditions would need to occur to bring him back to the touchline, he revealed he isn't eager for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing under bad weather through long matches; I'm glad to skip media briefings multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad talking freely, is pleasant. With many victories so there was often positive atmosphere at the club. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter in my ear for example.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, acknowledging his role for the tweaks that took the title last campaign. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in all competitions post heavy investment, but he rubbished the idea it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, along with the consequences at the club. Jota lost his life in a road accident alongside his brother recently.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it's his character. It's hard to picture the dressing room missing him. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad also. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Handling this individually is difficult. Unbearable.”
