Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
