Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.

Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic TV shows like "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to reports.

"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a statement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific Television Career

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a party host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His film credits include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.

The actor is remembered by his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
