Defiant Nancy insists he is not worried about being fired however supporters display anger following derby defeat.
The under-pressure manager insisted he was not afraid of the sack, asserting, “I believe we are extremely close to things turning around,” in the wake of moving dangerously close to being fired with a heavy defeat by Rangers.
Another Collapse Results in Derby Loss
The home side had led their oldest rivals at half-time but a second-half capitulation let Danny Röhl’s team to pull level on points with the current league title holders. The French coach, who was hired from Columbus Crew, has now overseen six setbacks in eight matches.
“We are together at the club,” insisted Nancy.
Pressed on his own future, the 48-year-old replied: “It’s not on my mind. I concentrate on working out methods to get the team to improve on the fine details.
Fan Fury Erupts

“It’s the results [that leads to pressure]. That is the situation for the moment. Yet by saying that’s how it is, it doesn’t mean that I am giving up. Not at all. My point is the turnaround is near, imminently close to reverse our form.”
Nancy’s Persistent Belief
The coach remains focused on the fact the side play well for a half at a time. Indeed, were it not for wastefulness in front of goal they would have been greater than 1-0 up. “There were positives other than the fact that we didn't take our chances,” he said. “I acknowledge that we lost, but it's important to stay objective.
“The level we had at stages was exceptionally high. That is a fact. I wouldn't speak so positively if it was untrue. But that’s why, when it comes to wins, I noted this is the same story. Which is why I said that we are really close to getting it right. But for the moment: the fine margins.”
“There were plenty of positives that we did, once more. But now comes down to performing for 90 minutes. My narrative would change if I didn't believe it. That’s why I firmly believe we’re going to be able to turn things around.”
Röhl’s Cautious Stance
Danny Röhl was cautious about a championship push in spite of what appeared to be a landmark win. “We take it game by game, and we can develop something here,” he said. “The confidence in the group is outstanding.”
